The Powerful Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP)!

The human body has an amazing capacity to heal itself. And one of the most exciting ways we’re seeing this healing energy harnessed is in platelet-rich plasma treatments. Dr. Summer and the staff at Lewisville Laser are excited to offer this next-generation rejuvenating treatment that can be used on multiple areas of the body and in diverse ways.

Plasma is the liquid component of our blood that holds both water and blood cells in suspension. The major players are the oxygen-carrying red cells (erythrocytes), infection-fighting white cells (lymphocytes), and our personal favorites: platelets! Platelets have remarkable healing properties, including facilitating clotting to slow down bleeding and helping wounds heal faster.

The first step in a platelet-rich plasma (PRP) treatment is creating your unique, genetically-tailored serum. Dr. Summer will draw a small amount of blood, similar to what you might expect at a routine physical exam. That blood is then spun in a centrifuge, causing the blood components to separate. The extracted plasma and platelets are then recombined to create a powerful, DNA-matched serum that can be applied topically or injected to ramp up cell turnover and new collagen production. And when PRP treatment is combined with microneedling, you get a supercharged rejuvenative response that results in smoother, firmer, more radiant skin.

With patented Vampire® treatments, Dr. Summer and our PA-C Kristen Murphy can tap into the incredible healing power of platelet-rich plasma to kick-start skin renewal on the face, neck, and decolette. PRP treatment has even been shown to be effective in addressing thinning hair, as well as vaginal dryness and loss of sensation due to aging, certain cancer treatments, and menopause.
